Maude Ward Lafferty was noted for her research. She was born in 1869 in Cynthiana, Kentucky where she also graduated from high school. She continued her education and graduated from a Paris, Kentucky convent as well. She was the wife of Judge William Thornton Lafferty who established the University of Kentucky's College of Law.
